Give me BSL: Events and activities for deaf children!

Here is a list of all current and upcoming events and activities for deaf children in the UK which Deaf Parents Deaf Children recommends.  The criteria for this list is that all the events and activities are for BSL users, they’re well organised and most importantly, fun!


Meakerbears Swim Sessions (London)

Every Sunday

9.45-10.30 Learners
£5 per session – One deaf (signer) instructor and two deaf aware hearing instructors.

Gymnastics for Deaf Children (Derby)
Unit A1 & A2 Mickleover Gymnastics,Amberley Drive, Sinfin, Derby DE249RE
Wednesdays 4.15-5.15pm with instructors proficient at BSL.
Ages 5-8yrs

Deaf Kids Football Coaching (Peterborough)
Ledbury Rd  Peterborough, Cambridgeshire PE3 9PN
Every Monday beginning 18th February for six-weeks
All ages
7-8pm with one hearing and two deaf coaches who sign.

Deaf Kids Football Coaching (Osterley, London)
GOALS, MacFarlane Lane,Isleworth TW7 5DB
Every Friday 6pm to 8pm
Ages: 6 to 16 years old.
£5 per session
Coached by a BSL Deaflympic gold medal winner with hearing coaches.


Gosling Sports Park Deaf Tennis (Hertfordshire)
Gosling Sports Park, Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, Herts AL8 6XE
Dates: March 16th, April 27th, May 4th, June, July etc TBC.
10am – 12pm
Ages: 3-14 years
£3 per session – 2/3 deaf BSL coaches and 2/3 deaf aware hearing coaches.

Lambeth Deaf Children’s Society Drop-in (London)
35 Effra Parade  London, Greater London SW2 1PL
Dates: June 8th, July 13th
1.30pm – 3.30pm
£2 per child – Majority are BSL using families.

SIGNtific – Events with BSL (London)
Dates: First saturday of every month
Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London SW7 2DD
FREE – Professional deaf BSL presenters lead the workshops/events with hearing voice over.

3D Derby Deaf Drama BSL Christmas Panto (Derby)
3D is the Derby-based independent theatre company with volunteers and run by Deaf people. Performances are in BSL.

Deafinitely Theatre (London)
Productions are in British Sign Language (BSL) and English and can be understood by everyone and yet retain BSL as the leading language throughout, on and off stage.
